2008 vintage, cask, 9.0% estimated. Had this from the cask at Tullycross Brewery in Manchester, CT. Poured into a short pint glass. Dark brown hue, lots of carbonation and a thin white head. Not much of a scent, but some cherry in the smell and the flavor. Smooth Irish red ale aftertaste and texture. A bit lacking for flavor complexity in the barleywine category. Warms the stomach as a hint of the ethanol, but again, not in an amazing way. However, I can say that this is an exceptionally good sipping beer. If you're looking for something with some real body to it but something that won't destroy your stomach (or your vision), I would go for this.
