This beer commemorates the Malbourne hotel, built in 1912, at the corner of Main and Roxboro where the Durham City Courthouse now stands. The hotel was demolished in 1966 and was named after Malbourne Antietam of the Duke family. This maibock makes use of Hallertauer hops exclusively.

Poured into a standard pint a clear medium golden with a thinner white head.Mainly caramel and some raw graininess in the nose, not much alcohol presence.Flavors are alot of the same with caramel and lightly toasted grain,a light shot of herbal hops in the finish but they were light.Seemed to be a bit of a "smaller" pale bock,no frills but not to bad.
