While I waited for my burger to arrive, I admired the only barely translucent chestnut brown color that is capped by a creamy, sand-colored head. The aroma is pleasant but muted, with a light milky sweetness and a touch of caramel. As with most of BCBB's beers, the flavor has more punch, with a nutty cereal sweetness that is balanced against a slightly spicy, earthy hop bitterness. The fine, prickly carbonation and drying astringency cut the sweetness quite a bit (perhaps more than I would have liked). Overall, though, this beer is a solid semi-sweet brown that falls somewhere between common American and UK versions of the style.
