Route 34 runs right by Rogue's Harbor Inn, and Route 34 Red Ale gets its name from that road. The beer has a ruby colored body and a healthy looking off-white head. Retention is good, lacing is scant.
The aroma has a lot of malt, with sweet, nutty, and toasted flavors.
The nutty flavor to this one is intense, followed by a good dose of both toasted malt and sweet caramel flavors. I almost want to say that there is both roasted malt and smoked malt in there also, as there is definitely a smoked flavor, but I'm not sure. A bit of bittering hops come in toward the finish, but this one is mostly a malt bomb.
Pretty big mouthfeel is a good amount of carbonation.
This is a solid, malty red, and it isn't bad considering this is the second beer that Rogue's harbor has brewed.
