Sitting just above Lake Cayuga, Rogue's Harbor Inn decided to name their first beer creation Cayuga Cream Ale. A straw colored body has two fingers of off-white head perched atop it. Head retention is pretty good, and the lacing is even better. Good looking beer.
A punch of creamy sweetness is followed by heavy grain notes.
Very sweet malt comes through first, but is rescued by the balancing pale grain notes that are crisp and clean. Light, bready sweetness comes next and a light hop profile rounds things out.
The mouthfeel is light and crisp with good carbonation.
I like this one, it is a well-done cream ale that doesn't over-do the sweetness. My guess is that this is supposed to be an approachable brew for people new to the world of good beer, and it would probably do a pretty good job of fulfilling that goal.
