East Shore Pale Ale, brewed on the east shore of Cayuga Lake, has a copper-colored body and a thin, light tan head. The retention and the lacing are both ok.
The aroma has a mix of zesty hops and malt that brings scents of caramel and bread.
Hops lead things off, with a little bit of a spicy character and a dash of citrus. The bitterness is noticeable, but not especially powerful. The malt has some sweet caramel flavors, but in an amount that is restrained enough to avoid becoming a malt bomb. Flavors of crackers and lighter malts come though as well.
Fairly light body with a good bit of carbonation.
East Shore Pale is a well-made pale ale that balances malt and hop characteristics rather well. Rogue Harbor has yet to blow me away with their beers, but I always seem to want another one, so they are obviously doing something right in Lansing.
