This is a barrel-aged imperial stout which has developed some slight souring—not infection, but not your usual BA RIS either.
This pours a malty dark amber-brown color with light foam and big bubbles. There’s a rye whiskey aroma as it opens up. Some tartness, almost sour, with a slight raspberry hint and a light vanilla aroma.
There’s a definite rye presence to it from the barrel, lending vanilla to the aroma and flavor as well as some sweetness. Finishes with a tart pucker. I enjoyed this one.
