So I walk into Zipp's Liquors in Minneapolis in Jan '15 and asked for something distinctively Minnesotan. I was handed a 2014 bottle of this wonderful brew. So I put it in my cellar and left it alone until I tossed it in the fridge yesterday.
Poured into an IPA glass. Loud pop when opened. Incredibly large, tight foam head took over my glass. Aroma was typical farmhouse ale. Soft, creamy mouth feel. As for flavor, I think this beer is awesome. A little tart but not too much. A little spicy or peppery but not too much. Really well balanced and drinkable. Find some if you can.

Poured from 750 mL bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a golden yellow hue with high carbonation producing a 3-4 inch frothy white head. Excellent retention. (4.5)
S: White wine, oak, white pepper, juniper berries, and a hint of soft citrus. (4.25)
T: White wine (?chardonnay) hits first and is a strong and steady presence throughout. Surprising and yet works quite well. Juniper berries, white pepper (and other spices?), light citrus, and a hint of herbal/earthy minerals. (4.5)
M: Soft and supple feel. Creamy and mildly sweet throughout. Pleasant lingering on the palate. Medium body. (4.25)
D: An interesting (the white wine component) and very drinkable brew. I like the amount of juniper berries present...hits the perfect note. I'm enjoying Olvalde's experimentation and trajectory of growth/learning. I also appreciate the focus on making real ales. (4.5)

Great wine character on the nose that carries through into the taste. Very complex with some semblance of a saison and nice flavor from the yeast that pay homage to Belgium. Excellent beer
