473ml can served cold into a weizen glass. LCBO purchase for $3.75 CDN. Canning date is illegible.
Appearance - Very dark brown brew that's closer to black than a lighter shade of brown. A finger of loose tan head is poured and has moderate head retention.
Smell - Bananas, brown bread a hint of clove and coriander. The bananas and bread do lead the way.
Taste - Bubblegum juicy sweetness, hints of banana and some brown bread backing that up. A touch of clove in the aftertaste. A hint of pepper too.
Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied, with good expressive carbonation. Light finish.
Overall - A pretty well crafted wheat beer that seems to be a bit greater than the sum of its parts. A welcome addition to Southern Ontario stores and hopefully the success of this brew inspires more dark wheat beers in the near future.
