A pumpkin beer....from Brazil? Sign me up! The one and only Sergio bought it, and Ricardo brought it to the states. The ingredients doesn't list any spices, so this should be interesting (not that it wasn't in the first place). On to the beer:
Toasted orange color with solid head and retention on top. I already note that spices weren't used, but the nose does give the illusion of cinnamon and nutmeg. Also cooked pumpkin flesh.
It takes a little time to get adjusted to the taste. Because there are no spices, we're stuck with fermented pumpkin flesh. But it is a pretty good one. Hints of tea (perhaps from the hops) and subtle gingerbread round out the profile. The body is a little thin for its ABV.
Pumpkin Beer au natural. Given it's Brazilian, maybe the proper term is "bem natureza". Certainly a good effort from the folks of Sauber Beer, especially when it comes to introducing this North American style to the Brazilian beer market.

600 mL bottle, thanks Jon, an unspiced Brasilian pumpkin beer, let's check it out,
A: Pours a gorgeous pumpkin orange with a medium white head, solid retention and some lace.
S: Squash for sure, the true pumpkin essence dominates. Light notes of orange and yeast character, but the gourd steals the show.
T: Sweet fruit, almost tropical at times. An undercurrent of pumpkin is there at all times, you really get to taste it.
M: Light-bodied with a crisp carbonation, though it certainly feels thin at points. No hint of alcohol, surprising that this is as big as it is.
O: This a really good pumpkin ale and quite different from those made in America. Similar at points to Kern River's, the fruit itself is allowed to shine, just really well made. Sauber continues to impress.
