-Brazilian style ipa, brewed with Palenta. Both of which I have never heard off.

A: Sudsy textured white head rests above a bright orange soda like coloring. Macro-bubble carbonation, again very soda-like, is sporadically released within. Weak lacing with a light to medium haze factor, with some ghosting on the far side.

S: Fresh wet tropical nose. White grapes, pineapple, peach and mangoes are forefront. Some apple and pear juice linger around as well. Perfumy delivery, medium strength. A bit of dried orange peel bitterness follows.

T: Tart and citric flavor, lemon-grapefruit-orange combo makes for a strange first sip. Pulpy malt, orange mash, with some alcohol warming noted at 9.0%. Warming semi-dry tangerine spiciness, spicy floral orange blossom and warm pine.

M: Full creamy body, smooth textured, little if any carbonation.

O: A unique flavor is made notable by its pronounced warming orange-tart tropical alcohol sense. Creamy malt base, strange flavor, and takes a bit to warm up to. Nice level of warming orange peel hop bitterness. Drink-ability is limited.

It must be New Odds & Sods Beer Sunday (Week 746) as I am delving deep into the backlog, pulling out bottles & especially CANs for The CANQuest (tm) & really getting at them! Once the day ends, you will be able to look back at the progression & see that there was actually method to the madness. In the interim, just hang on, it's a wild ride!

From the CAN: "Brazilian-style Imperial India Pale Ale brewed with Polenta".

That last had better be the name of somebody's brewer! They brewed this collab with Polenta! Otherwise, I am inCANdulous! Polenta?!? What next, shrimp & grits?!? Polenta?!?

I knew that there was only one way to find out & it beCAN with Crack!ing open the vent for a slow, steady C-Line Glug. I will cop to being a bit tipsy despite several naps & I really do not feel fit to deal with a mess. Once it became obvious that clarity was not a CANcern, I stepped up the rate of pour. This last resulted in an onrush of foam that created two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with great retention. No polenta in sight! Color was a cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose had a tropical fruitiness that led me to believe their claim of Mosaic hops, but sill no polenta. Mouthfeel was big, thick, full & creamy. Was that the result of polenta? I CANnot taste anything like cooked corn meal, so I still say that it is a pronoun (person's name). Finish was semi-sweet, very fruity, marginally an IIPA/DIPA, but it did have a noticeable alcohol heat with it, especially following my swallow. Why is Polenta after my bird? There are some questions that even The CANQuest (tm) CANnot answer!

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that left thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of mangos are present in the nose along with notes of stone fruit.
T: The taste has balanced, fruity flavors of mangos and stone fruits with hints of polenta and underlying malts.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and a little juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't nearly as juicy compared to other beers in the style, but does a very good job in hiding any traces of alcohol from the taste.

There's not many hops that can carry a big and bold IPA on their own, but the most notable exception is the Mosaic hop varietal. This isn't news to either Omnipollo or Tupiniquim brewers. They team up for a collaborative imperial stout that celebrates the hop to its fullest along with polenta (wait, what?)

Pastel golden and orange is how Polimango pours before it crowns with a creamy and soft meringue. A rich scent rolls of of the foam with a punch of just that - punch. Tropical in its nature, the mango influence is grand and is backed up by the green tropical and citrus fruit of hops. An herbal scent of fresh botanicals swirl about the nose before a sweetness of pastry, shortcake and honey coat the tongue with cereal sweetness.

Its firm maltiness is met with a firm texture as the ale extends across the middle palate with creamy effects. Lime, gooseberry, papaya and orange juice tease the tastebuds until the radiant mango flavor gives a strong sherbet-like taste and texture. Nearly tangy, the branch ripe fruit is truly radiant while the ale dives into a moderately strong bitterness of gin botanicals, fruit peels and a gentle flavor of hemp.

Medium full in body, the creaminess of adjunct grains remains but never really gives a perception of polenta or corn. Its basically a cereal grain that adds to the beer's fermentables and lets the mango and mosaic to all the talking, right down to a bittersweet finish of tropical fruit, hemp and matcha tea.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but was just released locally. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, corn, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and corn/bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, corn, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, corn, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and corn/bready malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Slight lingering resins/rinds through the glass. Minimal warming alcohol for 9.5%. Overall this is an outstanding NEDIPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and corn/bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the mildly bitter/drying finish; fantastic soft feel. Amazing Mosaic profile. Super juicy, vibrant, and lightly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced corn/malt backbone. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example. Not sure why they chose cornmeal for an adjunct, but it still tastes like a regular NEIPA anyways.
