Pint can of batch #003, which another review mentions seeing 7 months ago (probably the same batch I guess). That would explain the somewhat "off" taste of the hops, but wasn't too bad. Somehow several 4 packs just showed up in my local store, but I'm glad I only bought a single. Not bad, just off tasting so a disappointment from expectation. Interesting black and white label design, which I later noticed GLOWS IN THE DARK!

Had on tap at Josh's Taps & Caps.
L: Golden orange and more filtered in appearance than todays New England IPAs. Nice ivory lacing on the glass.
S: Overly smooth and placid, lemon, grape, and cream notes on the nose.
T: Follows the nose, primarily lemon meringue pie, and flabby sauvignion blanc grapes.
F: Thin-Medium body and a decent carbonation when you take notice.
O: Not my thing - I'm too sure what the goal was here.

Hazy yellow brew with a modest foam in the tumbler. Sticky and rather sweet. Not much carbonation. The long fruity aroma, though, reminds me of Meyer lemon and is quite inviting. This has a musty aftertaste with a touch of plastic.
I don't get a good feeling about this kind of cooked-up multinational stuff. The label says it's brewed by Twelve Percent LLC Stratford CT, which is another mystery in itself. From the 16 oz can that showed up on the West Coast. Labelled batch #003 on the bottom, but no date.

Pours much clearer than most NEIPA's. Almost clear, only slightly hazy bright lemon yellow with a large white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is mild, citrusy and pine. Flavor is bolder than the nose but has the same citrusy flavor with quite a hop punch in the finish. Piney and also more bitter than "NE" style IPA's . Feel is medium bodied, smooth. Overall a very tasty beer that would fit better in a different category IMHO.

Look: It pours hazy golden with a white head that has tight beading and excellent head retention.
Smell: There is a certain prevailing spiciness in the aroma with melon, stone fruit, and a tea like element.
Taste: The flavors are a bit more subtle with melon and stone fruit the most prominent. There is a tea like element in the background with a bit of melon and spice.
Feel: It has a medium body with smooth bitterness.
Overall, an interesting combinations of flavors and a pleasant bitterness makes for a good drinking IPA.

Notes via stream of consciousness: Great packaging design. Whoah... quite a cloudy body! It's a golden orange and looks a bit like a German hefeweizen except that the white head is only about an inch or so tall. The aroma citrusy, resinous, mildly piney, and a touch sweet smelling. It's got that raw hop pungency to it but it's not that strong of an aroma overall. What is this beer labeled as? It's an "Imperial India Pale Ale". OK, that makes sense. Usually double IPAs are less hoppy in the aroma than standard IPAs so I guess this is fine. I like it. I wish it was brighter, but I get it, there's all of that sweet malt there as well and the hops have to compete. I did forget though, to check where this was brewed - obviously it's not coming from Sweden. It's from Stratford, Connecticut so I'm assuming it's 2 Roads Brewing. OK, back to the beer, the flavor offers plenty of citrus within a sweet but not too sweet golden malt. I'm mainly getting lemon and grapefruit, but also some tangerine, mango, and apricot. Oh, and a bit of raspy pine and earthiness as well, mainly in the finish. It doesn't seem that bitter and yet it has a dry finish. I'd call this more of a New England style IPA that an Imperial IPA, but whatever, it is 8% alcohol by volume so the Imperial designation certainly fits. You can feel it, you know that strength is there, but the alcohol never actually steps from the shadows. In the mouth it's light-medium in body... maybe medium-light, and gently crisp and then smooth - very much like a NE IPA. So I don't know what to say. I like it. It delivers across the board.
