There is listed a Maz Double IPA, but the picture is not of this label. Nor are oats part of the recipe. Research indicates that, despite sharing the same ABV and Maz name, they aren't the same brew. This pint can is bright silver, with two black candles melted down to different heights. The oats make their first impression by contributing to the color. It's a very opaque dirty blond with a pleasantly balanced white head. They seem to compliment the IPA, because hops and some malt can be discerned by the nose. There's much to taste here. The malt is sweet and provides a rich base. The hops bring full flavor, some dankness, some earthiness and much more clean and dry bitterness. The oats may contribute somewhere, but they don't do anything to subdue the wonderful bitter hoppiness in this DOIPA. In short, it drinks refreshingly with good mouthfeel for the ABV and hits hard with the hops. A must try, if available.
