A 440ml can, with a best before date of 24th November 2022. Poured into a winebar glass.
Appearance: A rather unappetising brownish grey colour with a slight purple hue, and a one finger off white (tending towards grey) head that had decent retention and left some lacing.
Aroma: Sweet canned pineapple with light citrus zesty notes.
Taste: Sweet, probably too sweet, with a light salty sour in the background. The pineapple juice from canned pineapples, with lots of extra sugar mixed in, fruity hard candy, sweetened Yakult.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is a strange one. The appearance is a complete turn off for me. The aromas are nice, and the taste is generally my thing, and what I’d expect from a beer with ‘unicorn’ in it’s name, except that the whole thing is just way overly sweet. I think I would like it if there was more sourness to balance the sweet, but as it is, probably once is enough.
