A few years ago we went to Tampa, Florida to brew a massive Imperial Stout together with our friends at Angry Chair Brewing. 2022 it was time again, but this time it was brewed in Sweden, here is the barrel aged version.

Jet black syrupy pour with a minimal head. Savory mouthfeel--thick, smooth, silky. The flavors roll out beautifully. Rich toasted almonds flavor and nose that fills your sinuses--you can almost taste the nose, it's that rich. Coffee follows with seamless transition to creamy vanilla stays stays on your palate long after you've sipped. This imperial stout is an absolute treat--delicious!

The pour is nearly black, certainly darker than stout black (beer that pours dark brown and looks black in the glass) and the dark brown head never quite covers the surface. About par for a BA stout.
The taste is almost sweet, but not quite; the inclusion of marzipan and lactose makes one think pastry but I suspect all that sugar is converted to alcohol.
I get the coffee and the lactose but not the marzipan. Which is fine by me. Deep and rich, I certainly could have kept drinking it but it is probably better that it is just under 12 ounces.
The feel, like the flavor, is smooth and soft. The viscosity is high, which helps me from taking large sips.
OA, outstanding, this is one to savor.

This is an 11.2oz bottle that was purchased in cold storage. I don't see any obvious bottle or import date.
Appearance: Black body with no head. A few very tiny brown bubbles linger on the surface from the carbonation after it is poured but it never forms a head or an island.
Aroma: Bourbon comes through clearly with an accompanying wet oak scent. It smells nice.
Taste: A very rich dark chocolate and chocolate liqueur flavor come through up front. Bourbon comes through towards the middle with a light bit of char. There is a very light bit of coffee character in the aftertaste once the bitterness and barrel character fade.
Mouthfeel: It is full bodied with a bit of slickness. There is a bit of alcohol heat but it doesn't stick out too much unless the beer is held on the tongue. While drinking the beer naturally it is pretty well hidden. There is a charred bitterness that adds to the character nicely.
Overall: The ingredients list this as a "BARREL AGED IMPERIAL MARZIPAN COFFEE CREAM STOUT" and an "IMPERIAL STOUT WITH COFFEE & VANILLA." The barrel character is very strong in this beer and while it is nice it seems to drown out a lot of the other flavors. There is a bit of coffee in the aftertaste but the vanilla and almond flavors don't come through. The base beer is excellent and it's worth drinking on its own.
Tasting this beer it is a good competitor to other beers like KBS or BCBS. This bottle was about $26 USD so while it is tasty there are other similar beers on the market that might be cheaper. The additives in the beer don't shine over the barrel character so I would only really recommend it to those looking for a lot of barrel character. For more of a dessert beer I would recommend Noa from Omnipollo. I could still drink this from time to time but there are other beers from Omnipollo I would rather buy.

Pours thick black with a very small dark caramel head on top. Smell is of sweet caramel, barrel present. Maple coffee taste with a bourbon burn at the end.
