"We were so pleased with how well the Space Reaper release was received back in June we decided to brew it again, but this time with a twist. We swapped out our Chico ale yeast strain for our house Belgian Abbey yeast strain to create a fun twist on one of our favorite Double IPA's. The addition of a Belgian yeast fermented a higher temperature helps to squeeze out all of those fruity esters. This helps create the big, bold tropical flavors of mango, papaya, guava and bubble gum that Space Reaper is known for. This limited release is available for purchase in cans at the brewery."

Fruity, Tropical, Hoppy, Belgian
DC Brau swapped out their house Chico yeast strain for their house Belgian Abbey strain in this update. The result is a bright orange brew with hint of haze and a fluffy, clingy, white lace. Fruity, floral and herbal on the nose while tropical fruits, melon flesh, orange, some pine and soft stone fruits tease the palate with sweetness. A bready, toasty and slight caramel malt base along with a hit of bubblegum round out the flavors. The finish is slightly yeasty, with hop oils and some booziness in the linger. Not overly "Belgianized," Space Reaper 2.0 is a damn tasty sequel.

Poured into a tulip. A slightly hazy amber-copper color with a thick and resilient off-white head. Nice lacing. Fruity aromas of orange, bubblegum, and pineapple. The fruity notes showed up early on the first sip, followed by floral notes and a nice dankness. Blueberries and raspberries popped up as well. A nice malt backbone but very much in the back like a DIPA. Heat on the finish. The Belgian yeast definitely played well with the hops.
