Among the vineyards that fill the mid-September air near the shores of Lake Michigan with the smell of ripening grapes, it’s harvest season at Hop Head Farms in Baroda, Michigan. DC Brau’s production manager, Chris Graham, made a special trip to the farm to pick up 300 pounds of freshly harvested, un-dried Crystal hops for the brewery’s latest dock release.

Poured from the can into a DC Brau fancy pants glass. Can release from 2 days ago.
Deep amber orange, with an opaque consistency and nice glow. Hints of peach orange on the top and sides, with lighter lemon colors to the bottom. Thick rich classic IPA head, off white easily making three fingers. Swiss cheese retention with clumpy hanging pull lacing occasionally as well. Solid looking IPA.
Juicy classy fresh chewy leafy hop aroma. Hints a small touch of leafy sage, but more dank qualities and a touch of tropical juicy character. Small touches of light sprinkled sugary malt quality for balance. This is very nice taking me back to a different time.
Palate manage to keep things pretty settled. Light bodied flirting with a session mouthfeel, but provides a nice tangerine light orange citrus quality on first sip. Large amounts of earthy grass tones with some spicy touches of black pepper for character. Faint minty aftertaste mixing with orange and earth in a real light easy drinking package.
Just at a hair ove 5% this kicks off slightly like a real session IPA but with more flavor and body. Still it's lightness makes for some ridiculously drinkability and I could see this 4 pack dissapearing real quickly.
