2019 vintage
Appearance: Pours espresso colored with a thin beige film that fades to a ringlet; spotty lacing
Smell: Boozy whiff of heavily roasted oak and chocolate with a bready, grainy tone underneath; a vague hint of citrus marmalade
Taste: The wheated whiskey flavors are powerful here and dominate the chocolate; roasty and boozy, through the middle, with the marmalade making an appearance in the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low to moderate carbonation; plenty of warmth in the gullet
Overall: I didn't know anything about wheated whiskey before but the flavor is certainly distinctive; despite the new education, I find that this is too boozy and one-dimensional which is surprising for a three year old can

S- Dark chocolate, some figs, oak, bourbon, roasted malts. A little barrel forward but good.
T- Dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, some figs, roasted coffee, hints of vanilla. Great flavors but it is barrel forward.
M- Fairly smooth, full body, barrel is a little hot.
O- A tasty barrel aged stout, great flavors but seems like it might need time to mellow out.

Poured from the can into a snifter glass.
A nearly absolute pitch black body color completely opaque. Faint tan head, that makes about a finger and settles with a whispy top and a simple pencil thin collar. Excellent dark and big looking stout.
Aroma continues some very good notes. Hints of thick dark chocolate mixing with some nice oaky tones. Faint touches of some whiskey like fruity quality in the mix, along with some light touches of coffee on the nose.
Palate has some real impressive flavors. A faint light touching mouthfeel, with hints of dark chocolate and much roastier quality. Wood shavings and some rich oak quality in the flavor, but also a boozy heat that comes off more like brandy. Fruity hot a bit, with a faint touch of raspberry, but also gets a bit to fussel like in alcohol heat.
Even after 9 months in the barrel, some of the thickness and rich quality is still not getting through. However, there's some excellent roast and classic chocolate flavors and barrel notes to be had.

Had on tap. Mark this one down in the distinct category. The wheated barrel really comes through on the finish of the taste and upfront in the smell. Still has dark chocolate, molasses, bourbon, a ton of wood, but the more subtle ba stout flavors are swallowed up. It tastes like 15.5%, very boozy. The wheated graininess is felt in the body, but that could be in my head given the overpowering flavor
