The Griswold Inn was founded in the late 18th century and is the oldest standing inn and tavern in the United States.
The pub has the feel of a true New England relic. High ceiling, dim lights, antiques and art everywhere, ornate wood furnished. Truly cozy, warm, and inviting.
Maybe not a "true" beer destination with five standard taps including Sam Adams, Sam Seasonal, etc. Although, The Griswold Inn features its own privately brewed "Revolutionary Ale", which is worth trying.
The food is excellent. Simple plates, fresh and home made. Try the grilled cheese and home made tomato soup...
Monday nights means folk music and sea shanty's, a packed pub with people slamming their glasses on the table and singing.
