Copenhagen 5/11 2016. 50 cl bottle with a swing cap from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh. Ø. Very green label announcing that this is a "Bio-Bier".

Pours slightly hazy yellow with a medium-sized white head. Stable. Settles as a 0,5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Strong malty and bready aroma with light notes of fruit and some sour notes. Sweet pale malts and a bit of peach. Sour grains.

Light carbonation and a slightly thick palate. Gently tingling texture.

Flavor is lightly sweet with a more pronounced bitter sourness. Aftertaste is short and sourish.

Not something I would go all the way to Potsdam to pick up again.

Braumanufaktur Forsthaus Templin "Hell"
3€/,3L on tap at the brewery on 2 October 2021

Notes: AKA "Pils".
Look: Hazy (unfiltered) golden body beneath a full head of white foam. Very good head retention and lacing.
Smell: Grainy, cereal-like malt with mild floral hops.
Taste: As the aroma indicates it will be but with a mild herbal note and a soft, moderate bitterness.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp-then-smooth.
Overall: Quite and enjoyable, easy drinking beer. I'm not sure why they've advertised this as a Pils on their menu, but as "hell" on their bottles as it's definitely more of a helles.

Cloudy copper body, a bit off for the style. Crisp crackery malt, a dab of sweet caramel, fruity esters, mild floral bite on the finish. A bit sweeter than expected. Medium lighter bodied, good carbonation. Crisp. Drinks more kolsch than a helles, I think.

One cold January Sunday afternoon I visited the brewpub and tried all four beers available: this being the first. I believe this beer is also called by other names on occasions.

It came semi-cloudy blonde/light orange colour in a tall handled glass containing 0.3 litres, the head a white cap of bubbles.

The smell was of mildly sweet malts and hints of yeast, the taste not far off that either, a trace of bitterness in the aftertaste, but this isn’t a hoppy brew. Butterscotch and caramel came to mind in the flavours, this isn’t a refreshing helles/pilsner like the mass produced ones; this is more wholesome and complex. The girls in my party really took to it and only drank glasses of this while my male friend and I drank everything on tap that was on offer. We would however have been quite happy to have had a session on this one beer.
