Copenhagen 26/6 2019. 44 cl can from Mikkeller Web-shop. Drawing of old, red, moldy castle on the can.
Pours opaque dark brown with a medium-sized, light beige head. Settles as 0,3 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is intense, sweet with a light boozy bite. Brown sugar, an abundance of coconut, dark chocolate, molasses. Hints of vanilla.
Light carbonation. Thick, viscous, smooth, soft, fat texture.
Flavor is heavy sweet followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a light bitter, chocolate undercurrent. Lingering.
They might be overdoing the coconut thing a bit But a very nice and potent Imperial Stout.

Pours a pitch black coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of lightly roasted, caramel malt, milk chocolate and slightly toasted coconut, with just a hint of licorice coming through as well. Taste follows the nose exactly, with a nice balance of lightly roasted, caramel malt, milk chocolate and slightly toasted coconut, with just a hint of licorice and herbal/spicy hops. Finishes with a light bitterness and some roasted malt and coconut lingering in the aftertaste. Full, creamy mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and low carbonation.
While the coconut isn't too pronounced here, I think this just has a lovely balance of sweet and roasted/bitter notes going on that works out quite well. I'm not generally a huge fan of coconut Stouts, but this works for me because while it does have a tad of sweet coconut cream going on, it's nicely balanced by some more roasted and bitter notes as well as a touch of licorice, which really prevents this from becoming too sweet and overly coconutty. All in a all a really a terrific and really nicely balanced coconut Stout which might disappoint those looking for a rich and sweet Stout that's heavy on the coconut though.

A 440ml can, canned on 26th March 2019 and with a best before date of 26th March 2021. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Dark brown to black in colour with a half finger light tanned head that dissipated fairly quickly while leaving some nice lacing.
Aroma: Roasty, toasted coconut, coconut cream, chocolate truffle and coconut flakes.
Taste: Light roast, light sweetness, creamy, chocolate, coconut, coconut cream, light bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: It drinks easy but I wasn’t too fond of the coconut creaminess aroma and flavours. I would have preferred it if it was more toasted coconuts or coconut flakes instead of coconut cream.
