330 ml bottle, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.1%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of fruity hops, notes of mango and other tropical fruits. Fruity hops in the flavour too, citrus and pineapple, moderate bitterness. Good body for its low ABV.

Pours a clear yellow/gold colour. Smells like light grains, citrus, grapefruit, and earthy hops. Tastes sweeter citrus upfront, cereal malts/golden ale body, with a lingering hops aftertaste.

Bottle: a standard 330mL brown bottle with a standard macro label. Purchased from Leura Cellars.

Appearance: poured into an Innis & Gunn tulip - a murky orange-brown in colour with a fluffy one-finger head that drops away quickly. Solid in body with limited lacing.

Aroma: plenty of citrus hops, some sweet bread malts and light orchard fruits. Note: as usual it is better to let this one lose its chill - didn't get much when the bottle first opened.

Taste: the hops and yeast come through a little sharp.

Aftertaste: once the harshness drops, a smooth orchard fruit taste comes through.

Mouth feel: a bit flat in feel, but it brings the flavours through well enough.

Overall: a reasonable English pale ale, but certainly not the best I have had to date. Add the price being over AU$100 a case, and this one I will have only when reduced.

Coming in a 330ml brown bottle, bottle-conditioned; bottled on 20/12/2013, served mildly-chilled in a straight pint glass. Notes: according to the back label, Citra seems to be the only hop variety used in this brew.

A: pours a lightly murky, dark yellow straw-ish colour, coming with a thin layer of off-white head and fairly mild carbonation.
S: ripe pear-ish esters come in harmony with pale malt aroma and sweet citrus hops; given a good swirl, a semi-sharp exotic fruity mixture emerges along with a light tinge of honey-ish acidity and lemony aroma. Not terribly pronounced in terms of aroma extraction from the , but overall quietly enticing.
T: refreshing and mildly effervescent on the entry, the English pale malts come with a lightly stinky-earthy tinge of dried leafy citric hops and yeast sediments, coming immediately dry with savoury bitterness following suit, but somehow the aromatic quality of Citra hops is conspicuous by its lacking, if not total absence. Finishing with a good attenuation level, all in all very much like what a good quality English pale bitter does the best, added with an extra touch of cleanliness.
M&O: light-bodied, refreshingly carbonated and quaffably dry, this pale bitter has delivered some more yeasty-bitter elements than would’ve have been offered on cask, I presume, which in my opinion might be the sole reason why Citra hop’s fruity flavours come so subdued. Being an easy drinking beer, however, the slight contrast between the nose and palate is a minor disadvantage for it to stand out. Would definitely love to try its cask-conditioned version, if available.

From Sydney Wine Merchants. No BB.

A - golden hazy body, pillow head, sheet lace. Nice except the black floaties.

S & 5 - dull, stale, lemons and grapefruit. Reasonably hoppy on back palate but just so dull. It I knew what hop was the backbone of this I would guess it was the hop that I dislike whose name I do not know...!

M - very lively carbonation, lightweight.

O - a new wave of British Beers. A typical EPA this is not. Hoppy, light, and somewhat watery as the trend is for 2014. Quite sessionable. However, where does the dullness come from? It was as fresh as we get here ie new arrival, and fridged. I cannot but hope that in the Uk this would a different beast.
