Not a Kolsch in most discernible ways - too heavy, too yeasty. It is a run-of-the-mill Belgian blonde style ale. Uses a peppery Belgian yeast, wheat malt, etc. not terrible just generic

A very tasty blonde, not heavy at all, but flavorful.

The brewpub is a great place to stop - especially if you're spending the night at the attached inn.

On tap last night at the brewpub. One of their standards that for some reason I've never got around to trying.

Slightly hazy yellow with a small head that eventually dissipated to a ring. Decent carbonation.

Yeast and sweet on the nose, the taste had a kind of candy background to it. Mouth was on the thin side. Wife was quite enthusiastic about it, though I found it a tad bland. Would likely be a great gateway beer for those transitioning from macro to craft.

On tap at Turkey Hill on 5/15/11.

A - Sweaty glass of pale golden liquid with a slight haze and sparse white cap that diminished to a patchy film and virtually no lacing at all save for some miniscule dots around the glass.

S - Light lemony citric notes with a hint of grassy hops and honey sweetness. Malt character is biscuity with traces of lightly toasted grains. Reminds me of citrus chewing gum.

T - Citrus and light fleshy fruit notes with traces of sweet white grape and light malts. Finishes with a distinct grainy malt finish amid a light, airy hop presence akin to grass in the springtime.

M - Light bodied with a hint of syrupy texture. Mouthfeel is working towards crispness, but overall it is a tad watery for the style. Finishes with faint bitterness and residual sweetness on the palate.

D - Refreshing, light quaffer of a low ABV brew here. Could use a bit more crispness in the mouthfeel, though. Otherwise, not bad at all.

A-Bright golden yellow with a thin white head that reduced to a wispy veil and left spotty lace.

S-A touch of citrus accenting a healthy biscuit base. Fairly tame but does give a little aroma up, not surprising considering the style.

T-A rather nice zip of light citrus with a bit of zesty bite. Biscuit base is rather clean and leaves a nice residual of bready goodness behind.

M-Light bodied, crisp and clean with a light lingering citrus bite.

D-A Kolsch for your light beer offering...hell yeah! Thanks for not making a dumbed down golden ale or "light" beer. A style that can be enjoyed by all especially when done as nicely as this one.
