A: Pour from the growler was an orange with apple tint with no sense of effervesce. A frothy 1 finger off white head is short lived atop and offers no lacing even with an aggressive pour.
S: Nose of sweet belgian candy syrup mixes wit a spicy hopping (golding?). Butterscotch and caramel with some curaco orange and cardamon. Intriguing, not bitter but rather spicy and sweet and dare i say twisted and deviates from tradition. Fresh greenery along with apple and honey.
T: Sweet and smooth flavor of honey and caramel base. Faint herbaceous note of spearamint and light cypress notes combine with sweet dried honey, orange and cardamon. A touch of fresh fruitiness, apple, along with a gentle alcohol presence occurs towards the finish with a gentle warming of dry lemon pine hops. A belgian style that is heavy on the specialy malts and light on the belgian yeast.
M: Full bodied, thick and syrupy body with no feel of carbonation. Sits rather heavily and lazily on the tongue. Gentle spicy presence of hops.
O: Overall a twised pale indeed that deviates from tradition. Sweet and spicy, nice flow of flavors combining together and an complexity that is hard to decipher and put your finger (rather tongue) on and decide just what you are experiencing. Aptly named if you read thier web page, as your surely be reaching for another glass to try to figure out its flavor. A belgian style that is heavy on the specialy malts and light on the belgian yeast.

This was not available the first time I came to the Turkey Hill brewpub, so thought I would give it a shot. Turned out to be a good decision.
Orange amber in color, in a pint glass, head small, but persisted with some delicate lacing.
Not much on the nose, just some malt
taste was good, malt, a little sweet, quite strong given the lack of aroma.
mouthful was okay, solid, certainly not thin
overall I enjoyed this beer. Haven't much experience with Belgian Pale Ales, but if this is an example, sign me up!
