DATE: November 7, 2020... OCCASION: our nation has a new president--as always, hopeful but realistic... GLASSWARE: HopDevil nonick... had three of the four-pack in Bloom Wednesday night, so this is the final chance... pours a red-orange amber body, steady on effervescence, promoting a thick, two-finger off-white head that frames the nonick nicely... lacing is appreciable as the head settles, though it does so begrudgingly... this is the 5.2% variety, but at first inhale, a rich blast of pine, lemon grass, and sweet caramel claim this is a balanced, concise ale in its weight... its mouthfeel evokes a mix of the buttery and the hardened water styling of a British offering... it bites the teeth, smoothly appreciates through the mouth and finishes with a suggestion of oiliness to let it linger... closer to a brown in its feel and carbonation... the pine and caramel wed nicely here, sweet and flavorful, though not as big as the aroma may have led on... earthy, herbal notes exist, and the hops border on oily and dank... lemon and melon are the predominant citrus fruits... really impressed with the brewery' aesthetic and food, I sampled a flight and went off-menu for both my growler and can choice--no disappointment here... a sweet, solid sip after another, a good fireside companion, and one that welcomes the next can...will head back again when I have the chance, for sure...

On tap last night at the brewpub. Have had several times before.
Pint glass, decent head amber yellow coloring, average carbonation. Good aroma, hops coming through with a nice fruity sweetness to it.
Personally feel that this is a bit better than their IPA, taste comes through exactly as the nose, above medium mouth. Good balance, nice break form the hop bombs I've been having recently.
Good solid sessionable pale ale.

This is mildly hoppy, in comparison to west coast productions. Seems very east coast in its execution. That earthiness that I've seen from Weyerbacher with Double Simcoe and similar productions. Ya know what I mean? There is a good bit of pine and resin as well. The flavor profile has definitely gotten better as time has gone on. Carbonation seems fairly biting. Aggressive small bubbles just nibbling away at my tongue. Anyways. This is definitely an east coast hopped production. I can appreciate it. Though only after it has opened up a bit.

-This was my consolation prize for the journeyman ipa kicking on me. Growler.
A: Ice tea coloring pour has a frumpy oatmeal tinted head that stands proudly at 2 fingers for a good duration. Extremely soft carbonation with only sporadic instances of bubble release from the bottom of the etched vessel. Lacing was adequate, about 50-60% coverage staining the glass.
S: Nose was sweet and fruity, mangos, guava with some fresh grapefruit. Nice level of aromatic presence. Freshly squeezed lemons with some soft herbal tea notes about.
T: Hops are blended well on the flavor here, didn’t seem as dominant as what the nose presented, a bit softer but well mannered and polished. Fruity hops pear-mango combination with a freshly toasted sense of speciality grains. Sweet grain juice with a light dry farewell and some fresh lemony notes (Amarillo?). Hops control the front of the drink, the malt closes things out.
M: Soft crackling of carbonation, light bodied with a slick textured. Lemony dry toasted finish of the tongue.
O: Overall a softly harmonic and balanced flavor of hops and grains. Easy to put away and a solid recommendation. Nice to see things mixed up a bit with the hops instead of the usual west coast offering. Very drinkable.
