pours a deep amber with reddish hues. Thin beige head.
Smells of malt and yeast with a definite blackberry aroma.
Dark, sugary malt and berry flavors. Had a whisper of a medicinal taste. Finishes with a nice slightly tart yeast taste that cut the richness a bit. The fruit made another appearance at the end and lingered nicely.
Sorta thin bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lots of carbonation.
Interesting beer. Different melding of styles/flavors to be sure. I liked this and found it extremely drinkable for 7%ABV.

Reddish brown color. Small head. Aroma is fruity (blackberries) and malty. A medium bodied Abby dubbel that according to the bottle is brewed in the English tradition. First off, this is a very hard beer to describe. It’s possibly a cross between a blackberry lambic and an abbey double. It has the sweetness and fruitiness of a sweet lambic, a nice malt backbone and the tartness/sourness of a kreik. There is the definite fruit beer sweetness/tartness of the blackberries, and it has a nice malt backbone behind all that lambic/kriek thing as well. It’s a little confusing taste wise, but I’m starting to roll with it. Very smooth taste, perhaps a little thin in the mouthfeel department. An interesting beer, definitely worth trying. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This beer poured a great almost still with a nice Belgian sour red nose and color. The taste is similar with a crisp clean flavor with a subtle berry aftertaste. The dubbel style is almost lost to the red Flanders style sour beer. They have the right idea as this beer had great flavors but seems odd calling it a dubbel and the fruit was too subtle. Still this beer surprised me in its quality and drinkablity.
