I have been trying to find really good Red Ales with very little luck (outside of Bear Republic Red Rocket). This one is has a nice color, but very little head and lightly carbonated. I smell almost nothing --- possibly some malt. This beer simple lacks any true characteristics. It’s not a bad beer, but it’s not a bold beer. I would have preferred for them to produce something more adventurous and have fewer fans than something very safe for the masses.

Picked these guys up at Total Wine in Roseville, awesome how they support the locals. Poured a deep brownish red, little head retention. Smell was faint alcohol dominated by malts. Taste was pretty standard but very dribkable. This is a good local to try.

This one pours a dark brown, not very red, only slightly around the edges up to the light. Head was large and creamy with good retention.
Not much goin on in the aroma. Some spices, bitter skunky lager, some orange peel, and some metallic twang were most of what I got. It got more pleasant as it warmed with some toastiness and sweet caramel. The nose was the downfall of the brew.
Flavor was much better than the nose. It wasn't a flavor explosion but it was good. More robust chocolate and coffee created a nice bitter roasty flavor. Some grassy hop notes and and sweet caramel rounded it out.
The mouthfeel was nice and creamy with some good crisp carbonation. It was smooth and slick with a long chalky finish. I didn't expect much out of this one upon sniffing it, but the taste and feel really boosted it.

Single from the Davis Co-Op. Mild, malty odor. very subdued. Full flavor in terms of the style. Quite malty and dry with a big biscuity malt quality. Hops are a teensy bit spicy and vegetal, with a slightly unfriendly dry sourness on the finish...almost band-aid like. This doesn't linger though, so i'm not too bothered. Medium bodied. Drinks ok. I'm hardly overwhelmed, but it'll do as an interpretation of the style.

appearance: very dark red, darker than excepted, one finger head quickly leaves,
Smell: no hops, roasted grain, backed by malts, stout like and pleasant enough
Taste: uh....thats....different. Tastes like somebodies first homebrew, bad homebrew. The flavors don't blend and it's tastes really harsh. There is way too much roasted grain in the tastes.. way, way out of balance with the grains to malts...it gets worse with each sip
: Mouthfeel: slimy and watery
Drinkability: i couldn't finish the single i got. drain pour this junk. i'm getting very close to boycotting this brewery...well i should since most of their beers are crap.

Dark red color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is caramel malt with a pronounced sour flavor. A medium bodied red/amber ale. Malts are nutty and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. There is an overriding sourness to this beer that dominates everything else, and it spoils an otherwise nice sweet maltyness. Possibly an infection? Still drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and sour. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and a touch sourness
