New from May 2011

Like blitzing down the Ballyhouras on your bike with an icy wind in your face, this delivers a refreshing crisp smack around the gills. It pours a pale golden colour and the malty sweetness is well balanced by the American Chinook, Amarillo and Centennial hops.
Howling Gale has a pleasant grapefruit and citrus aroma and goes well with fish, chicken or anything off the barbeque.

Copenhagen 9/6 2021. 44 cl can from N'Bro Kiosken, Nørrebrogade, Kbh. N. The can look like bad art from the eighties in different shades of blue. Showcasing a gold medal from World Beer Awards for “Style Winner”.

Pours slightly unclear, golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a malty fruity odor mingling with a dry and citric scent. Peach and pear. Citrus and grapefruit. A bit sharp with a dry vibe.

Light carbonation. Thin, watery almost flat texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a while. Finish is dry.

Fairly intense and well-balanced but a bit flat.

Poured from can. Relatively clear, crisp looking ale. Not much on nose, taste is initially crisp and malty, but there is an ashy aftertaste that I can't wrap my head around. Very average beer to be honest.

440ml Can from Swift's SuperValu, N. Ireland (£2.50):
Light, fairly clear amber & a white head that's frothy but quite thin. It's a subdued nose with a faint citrus aroma & a background bitterness but it doesn't have much to show here really. It’s more pronounced tasting with citrus, pine hops & a little grapefruit. It's bitter & fresh, quite dry & well-carbonated too though with some background fruits showing too but it's a shame the nose was so poor.

Tastes and smells like an IPA but not quite as hoppy or bitter. Only 5% ABV. I drank plenty of these in Ireland and it was refreshing after drinking shitty English beers. Great beer with any choice of food.

Pours from 330 ml bottle amber with a thin white head that fades. Best by date of 9/14/18 do may not be the freshest example. Aroma is mild grapefruit with some floral notes. Taste is citrus with decent hop bitterness. Feel is okay, a bit sharp for me, but not bad. Overall, it's decent but not great. Worth a try.

Tried a 330 ml bottle in Grogans of Glasson village.
A very murky beer with a decent head.
Fruity taste with the hoppiness somewhat restrained.
I found the flavour a touch sweet, I tend to favour the more bitter hoppy ipa's like Galway Bays "Full Sail" However I will be drinking more as it's the only decent beer on sale in Grogans!

Drinking it now in Kinsale with seafood chowder at Crackpots. Pretty decent, though a bit more hoppy than I tend to prefer. Really clumpy head that sticks to the side of the glass long after it's empty. Never seen a head quite like this before. Prefer Kinsale Pale Ale or Galway Hooker to this.
