Ruby brown with a puffy tan head that fades fast. Bubble gum, charred wood, cinnamon candy and root beer on the nose.
Chocolate brownie, some soil and gingerbread up front with light clove, then faint citrus bark hops.
Potpourri ending and a tingly slightly earthy linger. Light to medium, chewy, fizzy, no hint of burn.

Way tasty! Too sweet and not all that complex, but a candy store of a beer that you just want to drink far faster than you should for the ABV, like the way you do with mulled wine. Star anise in particular shows up big at the end.

Continue to be impressed by 8 Degrees.

A bit of a strange one this. I poured the 330ml bottle (BB 30.07.12) into a Westmalle glass. It foamed up nicely to give a cream coloured head over a ruby brown body. There was an instant release of a banana/banana skin aroma that settled revealing some other fruits in the nose.

The label says; "munich and chocolate malts are complemented with fuggles hops. orange, cloves and star anise" so you get the picture, but I detected a slight "Worchester sauce" taste! It certainly was warming as it should be, but it felt a little "raw" to me. It was a very nice effort from one of Ireland's newest microbreweries who are certainly not afraid of experimentation, and hats off to them for that.
