February 2002: Better than most ice beers - but still an ice beer!......................... Lysholmer is a Ringnes-owned brand, originally brewed at E.C. Dahls in Trondheim, now brewed at Ringnes at Gjelleråsen.

This is a thin and watery lager, aimed at the segment of the market that doesn't really like beer. This means that most of the flavour is removed. It does not taste bad, it just does not taste anything!

Maybe this could appeal to those who like mainstream American beers. If not, any of the standard pilseners in Norway are preferable to this one.

Brought from Norway by a Polish friend, who is kind enough to bring me two cans of (bloody expensive) lagers after failing to find better bottled nectars like Nøgne Ø~~
BB 2 FEB 2007, served chilled in a 500ml weizen glass.

A: dark straw hue, plus a tight frothy white head with some retention; sparse and gentle carbonation. Looking not bad.
S: besides ju...st a little dusty note coming through the foam, I've tried very hard to pick up faintly, lemony and grassy note of (supposedly) noble hops, plus a sweet-ish malty base. Very restrained and not impressive--but nothing wrong if this being a generic lager is concerned.
T: semi-dry palate of corn-like adjuncts and hop-extract, plus a faintly metallic taste... leaving a little bitter edge of...___?? (hops?) struggling to get through... no aftertaste of anything, just a watery flow of alc. there to serve as a reminder that at least it's not water or soda. Fortunately there's no horrible, sticky and sugary finishing touch there.
M&D: loosely-fizzy on the mouthfeel and overly thin-bodied. This is surely one of the bland-est generic lagers I've had the past year, although I'm still grateful for my Polish mate's kind gesture... but 4.5 quid for this bloody can...?! 8-O
