Purchased at Local Liquor in Waurn Ponds in August 2023. Drunk in November of that year.
L: Caramel yellow, with a long-lasting, fluffy, white head and an abundance of carbonation rocketing up the glass. It's very dark for a pilsner, even a Czech one, but it regains some marks for head retention!
S: Spicey, dry hay, umami. Quite a weird and wrong aroma profile for a pilsner!
T: Ok, here's the problem. This beer is heavily oxidised, which means that the visual profile and aroma now make sense. The beer is heavy with a stale, cardboardy malt profile followed by a minerally finish. The beer came out of a can and is still in date by five months, so this must be a problem at packaging.
M: Carbonation and mouthfeel are moderate and full, respectively, sort of ok for a pilsner, but probably too much body.
O: This was not an enjoyable beer, quite obviously flawed and presumably not at all what the brewer intended to deliver.
Cheers!

I actually liked this one pretty much. It is very much like your Czech Pilsner in terms of its feel, very pleasant, but this one tops it off with something different from Saaz, I think it might be a different kind of aroma hop that gives the whole thing a punch! I’d love to taste it once again to see how it feels but even at this point it feels rock solid. I might even say that this is the best Japanese Pilsner I ever had!
