Orion Beer Co., Ltd. "Orion Shokunin Southern Wheat Beer"
11.8 fl. oz. can coded "EXP 2025.08 MFG 2024.09"
$5.50 @ The Casual Pint of Countryside Village, Omaha, NE
Notes via stream of consciousness: A clear golden body is capped by a finger's width of bright white foam that holds well. In the nose I'm finding sweetish malt and lighltly perfume-like floral hops. The taste follows with some additional wheaty malt character, and more floral hops. It's not bitter which leaves it sweet upfront, and then sweet in the finish. My guess is that this is generally consumed cold because if it warms up it could become cloyingly sweet. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. Overall it appears to be fairly well-brewed but the design is flawed and it teeters on the edge of going out of balance. Additionally, although the head held up fairly well it lacks in terms of lacing.

Bought a 6-packs 350ml cans $7.83 Tamura's
9 months old. Cans were packed in cardboard so couldn't see bottom of can.
Clear golden color.
Smells of spices, coriander
Medium mouthfeel
Medium carbonation
Taste of spices, lemon, citrus, wheat
Overall a nice beer. Probably better fresher, but rating it as is.

This is golden filtered wheat beer that tastes a bit like a cross between a traditional wheat beer and a helles. Pours deep golden with a one finger head that lingers. Not much of a smell. Clean wheat taste and a smooth mouthfeel indicate that it has a good amount of malt in the grain bill. So its starts tasting like wheat and finishes more like a helles. Nothing Japanese about it. As a wheat beer, its rather typical other than being from a Japanese brewer.
