Black-Black-Black.
And then some.
Held up to the light, the beer is like a black hole that sucks up all light. Not even around the edges. A tan, frothy but ralatively short-lasting head floats to the surface.
The smell is chocolate on top of chocolate, but the supplied 'tasting notes' assist that the grist is a combination of chocolate malt, english crystal and "special, dehusked" toasted barley.
The taste of the beer is clean and smooth. Rich taste. Heaps of chocolate malt balance out the alcohol pretty well. The alcohol is noticable, though, in a slightly warm mouth. A full, flavourful beer with not many drawbacks. This is a stout that doesn't mess around and is on the far extreme of flavour.
