opened this one up to find it a little bit of a gusher, didnt loose too much though. poured into a weizen glass.
A- careful pour yields about 3 inches of very bubbly head, that quickly subsides to a whisper, a very pale yellow. kinda cloudy. was expecting a bit more.
S- wheat, clove, some banana, a touch of sweetness, all the right flavours, but not as strongly as i was hoping.
T- straight up its pretty clovey and spicy, banana comes through after that, a touch of citrus, but it kind of peters off after that.
M- not too bad, but i find the carbonation quite aggressive, and it detracts a bit from the feel to me. apart from that though, it finishes dry and lasts for some time, which i like.
O- a pretty good attempt, i think i would have enjoyed it more if it was a little less carbonated, it potentially was hiding some of the flavours.

Pours a pale gold colour, clear but without the hefe haze. Head is white, dissipates to leave nice clingy lace. Great lace but needs haze.
Very hefe-y nose. Big clove hit with sour nutmeg notes, fresh banana and touch of dried orange peel. Tangy, spicy. Not bad at all.
Taste is similar in character but doesn't quite have the same punch. Tang upfront with banana, orange and lavender. Slight spice notes on the back with clove and star anise, but not a huge yeasty character; borderline sour.
Fair body, fair yeasty texture. Good.
Decent hef, but underwhelming in parts and nothing really spesh.

Drank from my Duvel Tulip
A - Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with nasty looking floaties. Large white head that dies quickly.
S - Sickly sweet biscuit aromas.
T - Not as bad as it looks and surprisingly palatable. Starts off with some nice wheat flavours with the sweetness at the end is balanced out with the bitterness.
M - Slightly over carbonated and light to medium body.
D - A long way behind the Cowaramup Brewery version of the Hefe.

Cloudy golden colour with a large, fluffy white head. Good.
Sharp fruity aroma with notes of lemon and peach playing against the standard banana notes.
Crisp and fruity banana notes. Mild clovey spice. Good.
Medium-light body with moderately-high carbonation. Very suitable.
A nice, tasty beer. Well done.

I don't often mark a beer down for having too much head, but this is one of those rare times. A reasonably conservative pour, and my 330mL bottle is overflowing from my 500mL weizen glass! Once settled the head is fluffy, white (and still huge) and sits atop a body of cloudy golden orange.
Smell - 4.0
Typical hefeweizen aroma of warm white bread, clove, banana, a little bubblegum and citrus.
Taste - 3.5
Smooth and refreshing, although certainly not textbook hefe. Spicier than some and dryer than most, with moderate clove flavour, dry husky wheat malt, and a tart citrussy fruitiness.
Mouthfeel - 3.5
Almost puckeringly tart, carbonation is smooth but could stand to be more lively.
Drinkability - 3.5
Not quite as drinkable as the best hefes, but this would be pure heaven on a hot summers day.
OVERALL - 3.6
One of the best beers from Bootleg, alongside Wils Pils and Settlers Pale Ale. There are better hefes out there, but if you are in the Margaret River region, it is definitely worth a try.
