ChocoFrut is our 5 Rabbit melding of luscious, chocolatey dark-roasted malts and the bright flavors of real fruit, for a series of beers that are creamy, fruity and ultra smooth. In the world of beer, ChocoFrut is a rare confection.
This Guayaba version uses six different malts and plenty of real guava purée in the fermenter.

750 ml bottle into a snifter. Had on 5/13/16, have also had on tap.
Pours an opaque, deep brown, with a small head and a fair amount of lacing. Kind of oily looking. Smell is malt, guava, chocolate, light smoke, molasses, some vanilla. Taste is stronger chocolate than the nose, guava, malt, molasses, a little melon- maybe cantaloupe, light vanilla and caramel. Some sweetness on the finish. Yummy stuff. Smooth, good body. well carbonated.
Well blended, the chocolate and guava flavors really pop out. Fun one to drink. This is one to buy again. Well worth a purchase.

On draft at Mr Brews. Served in a taster glass.
Dark black body, similar to all the others, half finger brown head, good retention. No lacing. Smells of tart guava, a bit of cocoa and chocolate of the base, but not a whole lot else. Flavour is similarly guava heavy, a tart fruity flavour with a bit of cocoa sprinkled in there. Not much of the base stout. The guava is overpowering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, appropriate carbonation, lingering tart guava finish. The least favorite of the 4.

Ok, this has got me excited. Guava is one of my all-time favorite flavors in anything, so naturally my expectations are fairly high for this new brew from La Cerveceria de Xicago. Mmm, juicy guava and rich, chocolatey roasted malt. Yes please...
25.4 fl oz bomber poured into a tulip.
L: Pours an opaque deep brown with a modest ring of sticky nut brown head. Carbonation appears to be modestly active initially but can't be seen through this light-swallowing brew, though it may be heard to crackle when the glass is raised to the ear.
S: Big authentic guava aromas leap out of the bottle the moment the cap is popped. From the glass the nose is still almost entirely juicy guava, which is a very good thing. A backdrop of dark-roasted chocolate malt is perceptible behind the massive fruit assault and becomes more noticeable as the beer warms. There may also be some lingering hops attempting to make their presence known, but I can't really tell because GUAVA.
T: The flavor is smooth roasted chocolate malt and juicy, lightly tart guava in perfect balance: despite what the nose would lead one to believe, neither flavor dominates this brew. The taste profile possesses little else in the way of other elements aside from a mild hop bitterness, but it doesn't need to. The guava and malt flavors separate somewhat within the mouth as the taste proceeds into the finish, with the guava lingering on the tip of the tongue longer than the malt does toward the sides and back of the palate. All good things. However, there is a mildly unpleasant astringent, almost medicinal drying note that appears toward the end of the taste, making its presence known in the early part of the finish and lingering on the tongue for some time after the swallow. I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of flavor-wise, though I strongly suspect the cause is fruit tannins as the experience is not unlike eating a slightly under-ripe persimmon. It's not enough to ruin the experience but I would consider it a flaw, and am docking points for both taste and mouthfeel due to its presence.
F: Medium-full in body and silky smooth, with just enough carbonation prickles to set off the delicious fruit flavor. The 7% ABV is nowhere to be found. Somewhat overly drying toward the end due to the fruit tannins, but otherwise perfect mouthfeel.
O: This es un cerveza muy deliciosa, and I would buy it again (I should try some of the other ChocoFrut varieties too). The flavor profile is not quite perfect, but it's impressively close for an experimental new release. If 5 Rabbit could tweak the tannins out of the brew, this would be a three-quarter liter of rock solid silky tropical deliciousness. Fingers crossed for next year's batch!

Nose was very guava...guava presence was strong at first...finish was more chocolate and guava almost disappeared. Loved the guava.
