this is well made beer and ultra unique, not like anything else out there. i have seen more and more pineapple beers spring up, but no stouts at all, this is way cool. pretty beer in the glass too, eggshell lustered dark chocolate color with a whipped thick head on it, contrastingly just off white, a bit of yin and yang here. aroma of pineapple juice, or rather, crushed pineapple from the can, not quite fresh, but really pretty authentic, and not very subtle at all. through that the stout comes, with big roasted barley and dark chocolate notes, cocoa nib bitterness, cocoa powder maybe would be better, and all very complimentary and smooth. more pineapple than chocolate in the flavor, but the light tropical fruit and the big sturdy base stout go amazingly together, i am surprised more of this hasnt been done in the past, its always trying to be sexy fruits, like cherries and raspberries in the dark beers, this is so unique. its sweet, but not dessert sweet, and there is enough of the bitter type of chocolate here to balance the pineapple sugars. not overly heavy in the mouthfeel, decent carbonation has it lightened up, and its hard to think heavy with such a vacationy vibe fro the pineapple. i think this is about as well put together as a sturdy stout and pineapple couple be, and it has me intrigued by the other beers in this series. really worth picking up if you see it around, and one of the more interesting beers we had on vacation this week!

First things first, do you like Pineapple? Presumably if you pick up a bottle or order a glass of this then you do. This is a lively fruit stout that reminds me of so many memories such as sipping the bottom of a pineapple fruit cup, or drinking juice in a Cypriot hotel. It's a Fun beer, capital F intended. Not a beer you'll queue up for or maybe even think twice about at the beer store but for an interesting brew to share with a friend or loved one this will do the trick.

Funnily enough the pineapple sort of sits in the background and as this warms (as you may expect) the juicier aspects come out. I'd be interested to try the base stout as I feel some of the subtleties in the base maybe take a back seat. What I did get though was a little smoke and some chocolate.
