Served in a New Holland cervoise at the Green Lady.
This brew was a special batch of the Vulture made for the Green Lady, aged on Oaxacan mescal-aged mesquite chips and cask-conditioned. Right on. It pours a deep sienna topped by a half-finger of off-cream-white foam. The nose comprises light roasted malts, toffee, very light dark chocolate, and even lighter earthy greens. No real sign of the mescal or wood yet, nor do the peppers come through all that much yet either. The taste moves things forward, though, by giving a hint of heat and earthiness from the peppers and a touch of lime and wood, ostensibly from the chips. All these things finally coming together make for a nuanced drinking experience. Always welcome. The body is a light moderate carbonation, with a decidedly mild carbonation and a very smooth feel. Overall, a tasty take on the Vulture, though the chips don't bring as much to the table as I would have hoped/expected. Still, an enjoyable brew, especially with Lolita playing all the while...
