Note: Beer is described by the brewery as a pale ale designed to appeal to the palate of beer lovers used to Australian style lagers. As such I have found it very hard to pigeonhole into a style. I figured American Blonde Ale is closest.
Appearance - 3.0
Hazy and straw coloured with a tinge of green. Small white head quickly recedes to a thin patchy layer.
Smell - 3.0
Just a little pale malt aroma, somewhat sulfury with a definite note of lemon.
Taste - 3.5
The first impression is of assertive bitterness and a balance that favours hops. Light, husky, cracker-like malt backbone, lemony and metallic hops, finishes bone dry.
Mouthfeel - 3.0
Light to moderate carbonation, light bodied.
Overall - 3.0
A decent summer beer with enough hop character to keep things interesting. A little less bittering hops or a little more malt sweetness would improve drinkability and overall enjoyment.
