Summer Crush is a refreshing and thirst-quenching Summer Ale. It’s our take on a Shandy without being one. Instead of using juice, we brew Summer Crush with Sorachi Ace hops to give it that quintessential lemon flavor and aroma. Additionally, you will experience notes of fresh cut grass, lemongrass, cereal, florals, and dill. Like a summer crush back in the day, this beer won’t be around for very long. Enjoy it while you can!

12oz can. Stamped on can bottom is '05/17/21'.
Cloudy, straw colored body. One finger of white head reduces to partial cap. Leaves extended strings of lacing.
Aroma of lemon, lightly toasted malt, and grass.
Taste is lightly toasted malt with lemon, grass and pickle juice/dill.
Medium mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
This is a good summer session beer, with hints of the season.

16oz pour
Looks like magazine beer. Light, bready, with a zip of bitter citrus hops and some black pepper like spicing. Much more flavorful, yet with a more neutral finish, when compared to others in its class
Another solid beer from the wizards at Castle Danger

Appearance: Pours a semi clear (50% opacity), orange golden color with a colloid look and small suspended particles. A massive white head that lingers. SRM of 5. I am pleasantly surprised. (4.00)
Aroma: Light lemon, orange, and pineapple citrus. A light vanilla cream cake aroma too. (4.00)
Flavor: Flavor follows the nose. Light citrus, with some nice yeast and grainy mouthfeel. Then comes a doughy & nutty biscuit and vanilla cream cake flavor. Lots of vanilla! But that's not all. There is some other baking spice I cannot put my finger on. It must be peppermint, vanilla bean, or butterscotch? Maybe a nut, like macadamia? A little smokey too. If anyone can place it let me know. *After looking at their website, it's DILL!*
Anyway, the flavor comes together really well. The yeast and pillowy mouthfeel diffuses the sweetness so that it finishes clean. Flavor is much better than most American blondes and it doesn't overdo the sweetness nor honey. A great vanilla-bean baking spice flavor too. (4.25)
Feel: Full mouthfeel. Pillowy, smooth, and creamy. Not much left on the palate. Finishes clean, but not gone. (4.50)
Compared to Surly's First Ave 8/20/20: Pours a slightly lighter and clouded color. A stronger lemon citrus and vanilla aroma. Less earthy honey and flower. Also more creamy and smooth, yet lighter bodied. Doesn't have the flowery hops.
Compared to Sam Adams Summerfest 5/30/21: Pours a lighter color. More lemon cream and vanilla on the aroma.
Overall: A really nice put together product. Great lemon cream vanilla, and dill that is absolutely delicious. It sort of reminds me of a cream ale with a citrus twist that is respectably dry. Slightly sour with some lactose and dill. A nice surprise here and I can say that this one is worth drinking again. (Final Rating 4.2: Outstanding)
*Slightly sour with some lactose and dill. Compare to a tart or lactose lager*

Improving my original middling review from 2018 across the boards in 2020. They really nailed it with this batch. Almost like lemon bread in a way. The Sorachi is toned down to a perfectly balanced level compared to prior releases. Love the soft yet zesty feel. Not too thin for a lower ABV beer. God I love these guys!

Pours a clear light golden color, Smell had grass/wheat and citrus. Taste follows nose some citrus hops mixes with wheat, grain, malt and grasssy herbs. Mouth feel was sweet with cracker malt finish. Average brew with average taste.

Pours a clear lighter golden color. Head is white and very frothy. It overflowed when the bartender poured it.
The nose is light, but there's a slight hop presence.
Taste a bit more hoppy up front than I expected. A bit of a bitter aftertaste. Not the best on the backside.
Feel is on the lighter side.
Overall a so so beer. Nothing that I can highly recommend.
