when i think about how much i like their bavarian lager, it makes me wonder how they came up with it considering all their other beers are not much chop. this is a newy and maintains the low standard.
this beer of course is modelled on the classic coopers sparkling but fails to come anywhere near that level. its cloudy, but its almost white in color. very very light. the head looks a bit sickly and tho it stays, its not a pretty sight. nose is a little vanilla, some malts, but not a lot of fruitiness there. taste is all over the place. no balance between the malts and other characteristics, again vanilla, maybe some stonefruit in there, but its really sweet, lacks a hoppy blast, and really just ends up tasting like asprin. its got a nice level of carbonation, but nothing like the full bodied yet sprizty coopers version. the taste really started to grate on me towards the end.
i had a six pack of these and i must admit the second time i drank it was a little better. i was so hoping this would be like their bavarian lager and not their pale ale, but alas, it was all on the wrong side. nothing to make me want to even vaguely consider getting this over coopers, not even the fact that its nearly half the price. a real 'why bother' beer for sure.
