Arrived pellucid amber with a thin layer of bright white film afloat on the surface. Some pasty patches of lacing cling to the glass where the head was -- must've fallen before arriving at my table.
Smell is a very floral -- springy! -- bloom of mildly peppery hops and a sugary sweet spine of malts.
Taste opens with an edge of fiesty yet restrained hops that move quickly into a solid band of malt sweetness -- bitterness holds on throughout. Aftertaste is a lingering drizzle of hops and a fresh bread yeastiness.
Mouthfeel -- lots of quenching carbonation and a solid, palate-coating without cloying, body.
I had trouble realizing this was an amber ale. Tasted like an ESB crossed with a good wheat beer. Nevertheless, enjoyed it.
