Lost coast mai bock

A: deep gold mellow orange, nothing too exceptional taking place here. It maintains mild carbonation and light lacing.

S: It smells of sweet maple syrup and honey, the smell is light and watery

T: The initial taste is sweet orange with mild turbinado sugar, there is light coating with nice maltiness. On the backend there is very slight bittering.

M: This is a refreshing beer that might get lost in the mix of wheatbeers, hefs, goldens, Belgian goldens, and the like. I would not specifically advise you to seek this out, but if it were a few dollars more than an adjunct lager, I would recommend it. That is the weakest recommendation possible, I know, but take it with a grain of salt I suppose.

D: This is exceptionally drinkable and if Lost Coast was smart, they would market this in cans to get cool Orange County kids to take this PREMIUM BEER to the beach. You can drink this very easily but, there are other things that you cant drink easily as well. This is for the guy who buys a Mitsubishi Lancer, and then you just wonder, why that purchase?

Narrative: Aiden’s finger’s ached after 8 long hours on the message boards. However, today was the day, he finally did it: HE SUCCEEDED IN DEGRADING EVERY SINGLE USER. Sure, some naysayers, aka h4t3rz, said that he would never pull it off. They said that he could never offend every single person on Importtunerz.com, but here, after a diligent effort, he had offended every Integra, Honda SI, 240sx, and CRX owner. The list went on. Aiden sprayed a lasting waft of Axe Bodyspray in celebration, not unlike Jeff Gordon, commemorating this landmark achievement. It is difficult to degrade this wayward youth for his efforts, but, again, it is hardly laudable.

A - Pours with one finger of off-white foam on top of a slightly hazy, dark golden body. The head settles slowly and leaves light lace.

S - A nice, malty aroma with notes of honey and bread. Some mild, fruity notes in the background with an odd whiff of orange.

T - Bready malt up front along with some spicy hops and a hint of clove. More thick malt in the middle including some honey character and more spicy hops. The beer finishes with more of the same flavors and moderate bitterness that comes off kind of sharp and harsh. Lingering alcoholic warmth.

M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish with a touch of astringency.

D - The malt and hop character are quite nice and the aroma is actually very enjoyable, but there are some significant flaws present in this beer. It really lacks the smoothness that I would like to see in a strong lager (which often seem to be a problem with light colored bocks for some reason) and it has both hot alcohol and a bit of inappropriate phenolic spiciness in the finish. It may simply need more extended lagering, but I suspect that these flaws are due to more than insufficient conditioning. Drinkable, but a little disappointing.
