been awhile since i had anything new from these guys, solid pils here, good attention to detail, flavorful but high drinkability, and it feels right for summer weather, well refined, good stuff. blonde and rather clear, sunny looking, with an airy inch or more of white head from the keg. it smells german, more hoppy than is common but still relaxed overall, fresh both in terms of grain and hops, noble grassiness and light citrus merge well with the sweeter front end this has, slightly doughy and subtle on the lager yeast, but there is an obvious briskness to this. the flavor is similar, a little more malty up front, cleaner later, some minerality in the middle before the hoppy finish. i would say this is pretty classically german, but it has just a little more structure than the imports and a bit more hop bitterness too, a nice back end pop here adds freshness and quickness to the whole thing, flavorful but unoffensive and easy, nice carbonation and a softness to the texture overall. there is still a little residual sugar in this, but it fits in nicely where it hits, and i think the proportions and flow of this are nice. good carbonation, an easy drinker, no frills and nicely hopped. ill look forward to my next pour of this one, and great to see something new from these guys!
