On-draught @ the brewery. Cost was $2.50 per 4oz pour since ABW killed their 3 pints for $10 deal in favour of a far inferior $10 per flight offer.
Mole spiced Sputnik.
Hints of Chile powder mingle with earthy chocolate, dark malt sweetness, and scintillae of coffee.
A bit basic for a mole oatmeal coffee stout, but there's no denying its quality. Terrifically balanced with enough subtlety to appease discerning drinkers.
$5 per 12oz is a bit steep for this imperial stout at least by Austin standards, but it's a rather drinkable enjoyable brew for its ABV and Austin needs more go-to imperial stouts. A worthwhile variant of the original Sputnik and one of the better ABW beers I've tried to date.
Still, its shallow depth of flavour is tough to overlook.
