This is an Imperial Red Ale aged in Balcones Single Malt Whiskey barrels.

A - This is a beautiful amber-orange color that seems to glow in the glass. Not too much of a head, but that's what I would expect from a beer like this. Looks great in the glass!

S - Whiskey up front, with rich hops cloying their way through, and a sweet caramel-like smell rounds it out.

T - It's whiskey forward, but it's not overpowering at all. It is very well blended and the flavors are balanced. The whiskey and vanilla gives way to nice piney, grapefruit, and mild citrus notes from the hops. The back end finishes with a slight bitterness that transitions into a caramel/malt sweetness on the finish. Very very tasty!

M - Mouthfeel is solid. It's not too thick, and there is almost no alcohol presence either. It goes down smooth, and it's one of those that there isn't much time in between drinks. It suits the brew quite well.

O - Overall this was a great beer to try and I think it works well.Still getting used to the Reds/IPAs/DIPAs being barrel aged, but this is one of the better ones I've tried so far.
