Growler purchased at the brewery in Spokane. According to one of the Budge bros, this is an “eggnog milk stout,” brewed with some sort of lactic yeast strain. This same Budge brother sold me the absolute last of this season’s supply – just enough for my growler! Next year he plans to brew it earlier and in greater quantity, as this beer was an inspiration that struck after the beginning of December.

In my glass, it seemed a dark black until held uop to light, whereupon it displayed a lighter, reddish-brown hue. Slight, bubbly tan head. Streaky lace.

For an eggnog stout, the nose is quite coffee-ish. As it warms up, there’s a sweet spiciness lurking in the background.

The taste starts out with a roasty, coffeeish bitterness, but then in the background spices come out to play, giving off a flavor that is undeniably like eggnog. There’s a very mild dryness at the swallow. There is absolutely no sign of the high alcohol content in the flavor.

Not as thick a body as I was expecting, with a slightly watery mouthfeel, but not to a disturbing degree.

An intriguing idea for a winter seasonal. This would make a good dessert beer, but at 9% it’s not much of a sessioner, and it's drinkability is ridiculous. This beer had very limited distribution, only appearing on-tap at Jones Radiator.

I bought a growler at the brewery. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours an opaque black color with a foamy tan head.

Smell is a roasty coffee aroma. Not much hint of the eggnog.

Taste is an oatmeal stout flavor with some vanilla spices.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied for the style.

Overall a good stout. The eggnog flavors don't do much for me, but I'm glad I tried it.
