There Will Be Brett is a twist on our classic Seizoen Bretta. This blend includes our oak-aged spontaneously fermented ale and a touch of kriek for a lovely hue and extra complexity. Refermentation in the bottle with special brettanomyces yeast marries rustic saison flavours with aromas of orange peel and stone fruit.

Copenhagen 21/10 2018. 75 cl bottle from Mikkellers Webshop. Bewildered Cow with a Hat on the label. Despite a touch of Kriek I am facing an ABV of 8,4.
Pours hazy orange with medium-sized white head. Settles as thin layer of foam just managing to cover the surface of the beer. Clinging to the side of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is balanced between the tart and sour and a nimble berry sweetness. The sourness is winning out in the end with an acidic, acerbic odor. The brett is moderate if you take the name of the beer into account. But it is certainly there. Not much booze despite the high ABV.
Strong carbonation. Fairly thin, watery but very lively and prickly texture.
Flavor has light sweetness which is soon overpowered by strong sourness. Aftertaste is sour with a light alcoholic burn.
Sour yet rounded Sour Ale which manages to get a very small but invigorating sweet twist with a little added berries.

750ml poured into tulip.
A: Pours a dark burnt amber color from the kriek addition with a couple fingers of dense, frothy, khaki colored head that slowly faded into a thick collar and wispy film.
S: Dry, earthy nose with notes of straw, crackery grains, and mild barnyard/mushroom funk. Musty, damp, and earthy overall.
T: Brett definitely drives the flavor profile. Earthy and musty flavors dominate with notes of grains, straw, and mild fruit esters. I get a hint of white grape, lemon zest, cherry, and toasted grain mixed in with the earthy, peppery, mushroomy flavors. Definitely can tell there is a wild spontaneous component blended in, and the flavors backs up the text on the label. Subtle band-aid Brett phenol's and stone fruit in the finish followed by a clean but very lingering bitter bretty character lasts well after the swallow.
M: Very mild acidity with a bright citrus-pith/medicinal aspirin tartness/bitterness from the brett, medium-full body, fluffy and soft carbonation, drying finish.
O: A clean easy to drink brett-dominate saison that got more and more complex with each sip. Love the addition of spontaneous fermentation and kriek in the blend.

This one pours a lightly hazy golden yellow color, with a large fluffy and rocky head, and lots of sticky lacing.
This is a Brett explosion, with funky fermented honey, clove, Barnyard, horse sweat, apple, pear, spicy funk, and flowers.
This almost too funky, but I guess I should have known this was coming, based on the name. It's a full on Brett funk explosion. It's got a very damp and sweaty hay funk flavor, with some very light tangy honey sweetness, green apple and pear, and a bit of stone fruit. This is just so spicy and funky- it's challenging but definitely tasty. The slight sweetness definitely helps balance things a bit.
This is medium bodied and pretty creamy, with a decent level of drinkability.
This is a bit of a crazy beer, with an unbridled Bretty funk level going. I enjoyed it.
