these guys just dont miss. i have seriously loved them all, and this is another winner. this time a golden strong sour in oak barrels with quite a lot of nuance. a little more sour than some of their others that i can recall, with a little less outward funkiness, but i think part of it is the strength, a little booziness meets some fuller grain body, nice for the fall, a little more hearty and malty than many of them. i like all the oak on this, seems pulled out and up by the acid in aroma and flavor, and definitely has a red wine character to it, although im not sure which kind of vessels they use here. i get this mixed fruitiness thats pretty rad here, berries and peaches and apricots or something, like the best of red berries and orchard fruit together, oak, brett, and wine elements all coming together. a citric acidity to it, but somewhat clean at the end for what it is, sharp but not undrinkably sour, i like it being a little more hearty and sturdy. the wild elements of this are great, as i have come to expect from these guys, they have it down! i could see this being a great base for berries or grapes or something if they wanted to turn it into a series...
