I can't match the description of the prior reviewer. He really nails all the characteristics of this beer. I'm a big fan of krieks, Flanders Reds, and similar styles, and this is right up there with the better examples. It's heavy on the cherries. It's a bit tart, but not really sour. The barrel influences are very present, but don't dominate the fruit. It's excellent stuff.

a special kriek type here, and another brilliant fruited beer from logsdon, who never seems to miss. this uses a couple of different types of cherries over a sour red base, more complex than a lot of these, more flanders type than classic lambic at its core, but i think an appropriate foundation for the fruit and the unique barrel treatment of pinot noir and bourbon, an unexpected double wood thing happening that really makes this one for me. a deep mahogany color to this, a little haze to it, and a short lasting ring of white bubbles. it smells like medicinal cherry, red wine vinegar, bran muffin and dark bread, and lemony citric acid, mouthwatering and with a lot of pucker from the cherries too. a nice mature brett thing on it and a little vanilla from the whiskey barrel side as well, complex as can be. the flavor is like that too, the bourbon barrels apparently used to house a big stout, and a little bit of the char and dark malt comes out in here, giving the cherries an almost dark chocolate dipped complexion, which is a little odd in a sour, but it works brilliantly with the earthy brett and the sweetness from the other grains in here. still high acid, some from the cherries but quite bacterial as well, mature though, relatively clean, and interesting all the way, not a stock culture it doesnt seem. great tartness, tons of pie cherry character here, and its great with the darker grains, as well as the red wine barrel, which is quite pungent here. amazing beer overall. they all are from these guys!
