Look: poured into a teku glass halfway. A generous collar of quickly-dissipating foam. Presents medium to medium-high opacity. A soft golden color.
Aroma: the sharp funkiness of the style is muted by a spreading meatiness. Bizarre as it sounds, probably a failure of my vocabulary, there’s a heartiness to this. Beneath it sit blackberry, dried orange peel.
Taste: medium sourness. Slight astringency. Floral notes of rose and earth. Easy on the pallet. Citrus and stone fruit are present but take a back seat.
Mouthfeel: Wheat and oat make for a smooth sip. Fullness across the tongue.
Overall: an interesting little offering. Perhaps trying to do a bit too much all at once. I’d like to see a similar beer leaning more into any element of this one. But as it stands, not bad!
